Hobby Products International (HPI Racing) started in 1986 in the sunny Southern California town of Costa Mesa. Tatsuro Watanabe and a partner invested $100 each and started with a 300 square foot office. The UNO series electric motor was the first line of products created by
HPI. One year later, RC legend Masami Hirosaka used an
HPI UNO motor to win his first IFMAR World Championship in England. In 1988 HPI USA began exporting products from USA to JAPAN. They introduced parts such as MIP, Peak Performance, Twister etc to the Japanese market. In 1994
HPI introduced its first
car kit, the
HPI Racing Super F1, followed the next year by the famed HPI RS4 electric touring car. In 1996 the HPI Nitro RS4 was released to the delight of touring car fans. The Nitro RS4 still remains one of the most acclaimed nitro touring cars in RC history.
HPI Racing followed its tradition of producing quality engineered
RC cars and products in successive years with the release of the Savage monster truck and of course the amazing Baja 1/5 scale buggy.
ACER Racing is proud to release
ceramic ball bearing kits for HPI Racing's entire line of vehicles. We will soon release a full
ceramic bearing kit for the HPI Baja buggy.
