Team Associated started during the slot car era of the 1960’s. Roger Curtis and Lee Yurada were working in Douglas Aircraft in sunny Southern California when they decided to open a slot car track. This quickly turned into a business making slot car wheels, tires and many other accessories.
Associated Electrics was soon formed.
By 1969 when the slot car craze had reached its end Associated had introduced its RC1, a 1:8 scale gas powered car. The 1970s was the start of the birth of the RC car revolution and with Team Associated’s RC100 car Team Associated became the first IFMAR World Champion taking the first 5 spots at the first ever IFMAR Worlds in Pomona.
1:12 scale cars followed the successful RC100 and soon thereafter in 1984 the famous RC10 was born. Who can forget this revolutionary off road buggy? One year later the RC10 took the first 3 spots at the first ever 1:10 IFMAR Off Road World Championships and the world of RC was revolutionized forever.
